Orihuela
Farming plains and the Mediterranean Sea merge in an unusual patchwork of little country towns and villages dotted around the areas of Baix Segura and Baix Vinalopó. On the shores of the River Segura, the province of Alicante takes on its most rustic appearance and treats the eye to a spectacle of colours bathed in the snow-white light of the Costa Blanca.
Nestled among countryside, orange trees and lemon groves, we find towns such as Orihuela, offering wonderful cultural, architectural and artistic heritage. The diversity of this landscape cannot be understood without its salt lakes, some of which are very famous such as Torrevieja and Santa Pola, ideal natural settings to watch migrating birds flying overhead and unforgettable sunsets.
Tabarca
Following the peaceful rural footpaths that invite you to practise hiking and mountain biking we reach coastal towns such as Guardamar del Segura, sheltered by impressive dunes carpeted with pine trees. The palm trees are another defining feature of the local vegetation, some even as important as the Elx Palm Grove, declared World Heritage.
A purely maritime essence is the defining feature of ancient fishing villages such Santa Pola, which enjoys wonderful white sandy beaches. And out to sea, the island of Tabarca, with its quiet coves, its picturesque houses and the unique views it offers of the Costa Blanca coastline.
