To enjoy Alicante to the full, you can start by attending  the interesting performances taking place until 11^th September, at the XXIII edition of the theatre festival known as Alicante a Escena, and to follow, we suggest you choose any one of its magnificent beaches and coves to relax.

Alicante a escena goes from strength to strength every year, thanks to the quality of the performances and calibre of the actors and actresses, as well as the work of the managers and dramatic programmers who work to make sure everything is a success.

Alicante's Principal Theatre will be staging the proposals of nine amateur theatre companies from the city and province. Eight of the finalists were chosen from the 29 entries, and the ninth, El Sprint de la Tortuga, has been invited to perform as a reward for its professional trajectory.

And after enjoying these performances, what better than to explore the coastline from north to south. The city's most popular beaches undoubtedly include the Playa de San Juan. Enjoying its fine golden sand as you are revitalised by the sun's rays is just one of the possibilities open to you in this area which is also brimming with restaurants.

Right by the Playa de San Juan beach we find La Almadraba, a coastal area with crystal clear waters that combines rocks and sand to perfection, and which nestles right between the Playa de la Albufereta beach and the Cabo de las Huertas cape.

At this latter point, there are a series of pretty and inviting coves with transparent waters, ideal for enjoying the peace and calm of the Mediterranean. Located in the northwest part of Alicante is the Playa de la Albufereta beach, between El Tossal de Manises and La Serra Grossa, right in an area where important archaeological findings have been made.

The Playa de El Postiguet beach is located by the city centre and very close to Santa Bárbara Castle. The magnificent quality of its sand and the beauty of its promenade have made this a symbol for the people of Alicante, an honour shared with the Playa de Tabarca beach. And finally, the Playa del Saladar beach, just five kilometres from the city, is another of the Costa Blanca's natural gems.
